Who’s Behind the Needle?

You might be wondering why everything here is in English – well, I’m American. For many years I worked as a teacher of English, social studies, and economics (yes, I thought in German), and now I’m happily enjoying retirement.

My true passion, though, is sewing. Dresses, bags, little projects – I taught myself everything, and I firmly believe that if you can read, you can sew. Once you understand a pattern, a whole creative world opens up.

That’s exactly what I want to share with you: the joy of sewing, the creativity, the fun, and that wonderful feeling of making something with your own hands.

Your Course at a Glance

I Teach At Home

I teach at home. In a cozy setting, we can bring your sewing projects to life. There’s always a cup of coffee or tea to enjoy, along with a slice of my homemade pie.

Bring your Machine

Bring your own sewing machine to continue your projects independently— “Empowered Learning” in action.
Don’t have one? I have a backup you can use.

Size of Courses

I can host up to three students, keeping courses small and cozy so I have plenty of time to guide each of you through your projects at ease.

How We’ll Get Started

1 | Let’s Talk

If you booked a one-on-one session, we’ll start with a little consultation. Maybe you’ve never sewn before, maybe you just need a fresh start – either way, we’ll find the perfect project for you. Dresses, cushions, zipper covers, or even upcycling a favorite piece – the options are wide open.

2 | Buy your Materials

Depending on the course, you’ll need a pattern, fabric, thread, and a few extras. You’ll head out and get everything you need, and I’ll make it easy with a clear, step-by-step list. I’ll also share my favorite local shops and online stores so you can shop confidently without stress.

3 | Prepare your Fabric

Before we start sewing, the fabric gets a little care. Wash it and iron it so it won’t shrink later and your finished piece keeps its shape beautifully. This small step makes a big difference in the final result.

4 | Let’s Start Sewing

Now the fun begins. I’ll show you how to set up your machine, how to read and cut a pattern, and of course, how to bring your project to life. By the end of the session, you’ll walk home with something finished, handmade, and completely yours.
